At AppleSeed Educare we are committed to providing excellent care and education in a homely environment. We are a small family – a home away from home where children, parents and whanau feel a strong sense of belonging.
Our aim is that children grow up as competent, confident learners and communicators: healthy in mind, body and spirit: secure in their sense of belonging and in the knowledge they make a valued contribution to society.
We believe that children are unique individuals who should be treated with respect and dignity. Our children are viewed as explorers, reflective thinkers, and capable decision makers for their own learning. Through our holistic approach, each child’s unique physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs are met, enhancing their self-esteem and sense of self-worth, growing children into lifelong learners.
Our stimulating physical environment acts as a third teacher, where children can discover their own learning through a range of safe play choices, challenges and opportunities for risk taking which will enhance their imagination and creativity.
The bi cultural heritage which is founded in Ti tiriti o Waitangi is reflected through our practices. We welcome, value and respect the diversity within our centre, respectful of different cultures, ethnic groups, socio economic status, gender and abilities.
We value tuakana-teina relationships where younger children learn from older and older, children care for their younger peers within our mixed age environment. Our children, teachers, parents and whanau and management are all learning together within our centre (Ako).
Partnerships with parents and whanau and the wider community are highly valuable to us. Through reciprocal and constant communication within our learning community, we believe that we can achieve the best learning outcomes for children.
We are committed to ongoing professional development and maintaining a high level of trained and registered teachers ensuring quality teaching and learning process in our service. Our teachers are passionate, friendly and high skilled who are consistently reviewing their own practice and the centre’s learning programme.
